Project Name
Exposition Corridor LRT Phase 2
Agency/Firm
Exposition Metro Line Construction Authority
Phase 2 of the Exposition Corridor, which is currently under final design and construction, runs from Culver City to Santa Monica and is expected to open in 2015. ATS performed the noise and vibration studies for the Phase 2 Draft and Final Environmental Impact Report (DEIR and FEIR). An important issue during the Phase 2 FEIR was the considerable concern within the communities about future noise and vibration levels. The studies performed by ATS included extensive measurements of existing noise levels, state-of-the-art testing of vibration propagation and sound insulation, and developing noise and vibration predictions for all sensitive receptors in the corridor. ATS assisted the Authority with several very well attended public meetings to communicate the results of the noise and vibration analysis to affected parties.
A unique feature of the Expo Corridor is the number of recording studios, screening rooms, and other facilities for the movie and recording industries that are located within 100 ft of the project corridor. ATS performed detailed studies for 10 of these facilities and recommended specific noise and vibration mitigation measures that will allow these facilities to operate without being affected by noise or vibration from light rail operations.
