ATS Consulting performed the noise and vibration studies for the Final Environment Impact Statement/Report for the Gold Line Extension that was completed in 2005. ATS reviewed the studies that were performed by others for the DEIS/R, performed supplementary noise and vibration measurements, and updated the predictions to account for changes in the project description and the assumed operating conditions. Much of the noise and vibration testing was designed provide more accurate predictions of the potential noise and vibration impacts. As a result of the more detailed noise and vibration studies performed for the FEIS/R, the length of sound wall was reduced by nearly 7,000 ft, the number of dwelling units where sound insulation would be required was reduced by 196 units, and the length of track where vibration mitigation would be required was reduced by 34,000 ft. ATS is currently on the program management team for the Phase 2A of the Foothill Extension and on the Supplemental EIS/EIR for Phase 2B. Phase 2A is currently under construction and revenue service operations are expected to start in 2015.
